I took my 7 year old down to one of my family's old homesteads for a few days and managed to get a couple short hunts in because there was lots of other things i had to do. I have been wanting to get down there for ever to hunt. I managed to get 8 silver coins which were 1916,1920,1934,1940,1944,1946,1947 Canadian dimes and a 1920 Canadian quarter. I what i got for large cents is a 1862 British One penny, 1871 Newfoundland one cent, and 1876,190?(Holed),1908,1913 Canadian large cents. I also got a 1957 Canadian nickel and multiple other small coppers but nothing worth mentioning. Everything in the pictures are not cleaned up at all yet so i may add some better photos. I also got some decent relics. I cant wait to get back down there and do a proper hunt. I have for more virgin homesteads to do. There are endless spots to go there but its a three hour drive and I'm so busy all the time . Thanks for looking! [emoji2]

Stupid me i the Newfoundland large cent was 1875 not 1871. Also the 1934 dime is a all brown colored silver coin for some reason. At least its got a protective shell around it! Haha

Sounds like you got some well deserved quality time off and made some great finds! Excellent assortment of finds brother! Is the small pistol a toy? That's a cool find for sure

Yup the little derringer came originally in a box set with more guns in the early 1960's i think.

Nice little haul there…nice looking silver…fork looks like the one I found today all twisted up...

Looking forward to seeing that little toy derringer cleaned up  Any of that silverware marked "White Star Line?" :laughing7: I still hope people look at that amazing find and eventually vote it up on the Banner! Love that find!!

Isn't great to get a spot where the coinage seems to be everywhere the coil swings, you know you're the first one to be there to hunt. Congrats on the silvers and the coppers.

My way older cousin lives down that way i found the stuff. He owns a detector but rarely uses it. He said messing around with it a few years ago in the cow pasture there before he found three nova scotia 1861 cents, a few half cents and some indian head penny's. I wanted to get in there bad but the cows weren't very friendly looking. Maybe in the fall when there long gone and they have the rest of the grass chewed away! [emoji2]

LOL when I was in England near my in-law's house I detected a cow pasture and the cows came up to look at me while I was detecting. They just stood there looking at me LOL....no problems. A little later this dog was running through the pasture looking like he ran away and was on his way home or something and saw the cows ahead and thought better of passing them so he circled back.....he kind of hung out around me like I was his buddy for about an hour or so...very cool. It was pretty comical--I was talking to him while I was detecting...I guess he found me less threatening than that herd of cows, but the cows I met were pretty mellow.

Lucky you. I was told the big black one was very protective of the others and nervous. I was around cattle before many times but this guy had the "hollow" eyes if you know what i mean! Haha

You've made some great finds!, I really like those Canadian large cents, heck of a job!

Thanks. It was getting dark when i took photos and the pictures are crappy. Most of them actually have good detail left on them. The holed one is rough and they punched the hole over the last number of the date of all places. The British penny is worn bad from circulation also.

I think the relics are best finds! Beautiful house in the pic!

My wife has those eyes sometimes :laughing7: I think mine were all milking cows....I didn't see any bulls

They got the outside looking nice but it needs work on the inside. Its like stepping back in time in that old place but they go behind do fast when the owner passes and no one lives in it for do long. If you liked that one you should see my late grand mothers old place. That was here brothers place but i forgot to take a pic of hers. Great old spots! [emoji2]

Awesome hunt and Great saves!!

Looks like you have a great site and no doubt plenty more to save. I bet after a day like that your 3 hour drive going home felt more like a half hour drive, Sweet!

What an awesome hunt, congratulations. Have been to Peggy's Cove myself when we visited my buddies RV campground, Old Ship yard beach outside of Advocate. Think his address is Spencers Island.

Good job on scoring so many great finds, and it's awesome that you have family sites like that to hunt.
