We were out all day yesterday looking for a treasure trove, 1880 stage coach robbery loot. My 6 in coil kept giving me false signals just about every time it bumped against a rock or brushed up against bushes or weeds. Is there something I need to change in settings or maybe it’s a bad coil?

I've seen coil bump sensitivity when GB numbers are high. Set GB to 0 and see if the bump sensitivity disappears. If not, you might have a coil issue. Just something you have to live with if the machine is running hot with high gb.

Your coil wire from the coil to the shaft may be flopping too much.
if the sensitivity is to high. Remember you are putting the same power to the 6” that you do to the 11”.
at times more is not better.

Thanks for the help guys, I was on a steep slope so I collapsed the shaft a bit for easier swings and that’s when the coil started acting up, the coil wire was very loose.

It’s ok loose as long as it isn’t near the coil. When it flops their the coil looks like it is passing over a piece of metal.
Thats why All will beep when bumped. The wire has metal in it but the coil will null it out when you ground balance like it is normal mineralized ground.
