Hey everyone! I have be unable to get on due to my schooling but it's summer now. Hopefully some great things are being turned up over there out east. Today, I didn't find any materialistic item but something even cooler. I found out my Great great great great grandfather fought in the Civil War. He fought for the 54th Pennsylvanian Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Company A. We do not have much on him and have scoured the internet for things. I am unable to get Ancestry.com and just want to get anything about him from his service. I think Ancestry has CW photos of him but won't allow me to see them. He is #60 on that muster sheet and in the photo him and his wife Sarah (Myers) Houck. From left to right his children go Edward, Phoeobe Elizabeth, Daniel, George, Jacob. If anyone has an account or can help I SINCERELY would appreciate it.
I'd love to see his immigration papers as well.

Digging around the roots of the family tree can be exciting, and it looks like you've made quite a discovery. Can't help you with Ancestry.com, but wish you the best as you continue to piece that puzzle together. Really nice flint lock hammer too! Congrats!

Been there done the genealogy thing several times. If you do get on Ancestry, my thing was to wait until I had plenty of leads or documents I was looking for, buy it for a month download like a 13 year old boy who has just discovered internet porn, and cancel before you have to pay for a second month. I do highly recommend Ancestry, they have great resources.

I suppose that's what I'm going to have to do. Was hoping someone had access to it haha.

Pennsylvania? Are you sure? The family photo looks like they live in Australia... :laughing7:

Just messing with you...

Fantastic research, so glad you have made a personal connection with a passed relative!

Haha why Australia?  But thank you I appreciate the information!

Really...? It is the over used, but ever popular "Everything in Australia is upside down" joke. The family pic you posted is upside down on my screen...

Hahah jeez. I've never even heard that saying before. 😂 Well now I know that too.
