$500-$700 Machines Comparison

I would say the White's MXT, I would put it up against any detector out there. Get the D2 coil and it will hit targets as deep as any detector. Good luck and HH

I would have to agree. That is a well built machine. I tested one out at a dealers and did alot of reading on it's features. Definitely well built and worth the money.

Within these prices ranges (for new) my favorites are Garrett AT Pro. 7" deep dime IDed correctly, in moderate minerals & very dry ground. Amonst the best & the new Cam locks version has the problems finally corrected. STD mode very quiet & stable.
Solid air test range about 11" on dime to about 15" on nickel. ID# too small, target separation pretty good with stock DDcoil. Goes to 10' underwater for ring hunters.
8.5x11.5" DD coil. Optional concentrics 9x12, 6.5x9, 4.5. Small DD for AT Gold works.

Other favorite Teknetics G2, loud with a fairly accurate visual ID om my dime planted 5"+ deep & somewhat tilted. G2 has modulated audio so could barely hear in air test a dime at 10", 10.5" zinc, 11" quarter, 12" nickel. Not much learning involved as the number of adjustments aren't extreme. Very lightweight, can be swept fast, numerical ID is large. Separation exceptional 11" DD.

Haven't had a chance to try a White's with the newer large coils. With stock coil & 6.75x10 DD, depth was slightly above average as fas as probable coin on visual ID, but not exceptional, generally 3"-5" & rarely 6". Best wishes, George (MN)

The 6x10DD coil is basically a 6" coil to be fair in testing though, if compairing detectors people really need to choose the closest coil size and the gain you run at will make a big difference on the MXT. I try to always run at +2 gain with the MXT, that with the D2 coil will pick up tiny stuff really deep. Though it gets a little much digging up those tiny 22 bullets and 22 short casings that are really hard to find even out on the hand towel.

Whites M6 with stock coil, Minelab Xterra 70 with stock coil, M6 is deeper and has a much faster response. M6 with 10.5 DD coil, Minelab Xterra 70 with 10.5 DD MF Coil,Xterra is 2 + inches deeper. The deepest coins I have dug with my M6 are in the 10 inch range. Hunting same fields with Xterra 70 with 10.5 coil I have gotten coins in the 12 to 13 inch range. Xterra also wins in the weight department, but if I had to choose only one it would be the Whites M6.
