I was up with the sun at 6:30am and arrived at a church rummage sale at 7:15am, couldnt find a parking spot within 6 blocks. This sale was massive with multiple buildings, tents, food vendors and armed police.Found the jewlery room and met "charles" the silver guy behind the glass cabinets.I asked to see an odd looking sterling bracelet, I tested it with my magnet and it failed.I let charles know immediately and he apologised and marked it down to reflect junk status(the magnet he was using was tiny). After that we became very friendly.I bought a few sterling pieces from him and was able to talk him down a few dollars. He then brought out a bag of new sterling and let me pick some stuff from it before it hit the jewlery case for the public, I will post them later. While waiting in line to pay I was browsing the junk .50 cent wicker basket pins.I must have looked at 20 to 30 pins and one of the last ones was marked 14k! weighs 4.2 grams, acid tests positive for 14k as well on my gt4000.There are so many good sales I cant get to them all. Thanks for looking.
p.s. some of the ladies working the sale seen me looking through my loupe at various pieces and commented, "we already looked at everything through a loupe and its marked accordingly so you dont need to do that!" I told them that I couldnt see any small print very well without it and thanked them.(not too far from the truth).
