50 Cal Cont'd and today's spoils

Hey everyone, I finally got some pics of the live rounds I found from the other day. I went out today for a couple of hours very cold today, but bareable. I found plenty of pulltabs, a couple of M4 blank shells, and the interesting find were two 38 cal long neck rounds, one shell, one live round. I also discovered the remnents of a burned down building, I found a bell filled with charded wood remains inside. I guess over all it was a good day, no unexploded ordinance, (well, just one) and i'm still here . I'm gonna try a new location in the morning, I'll keep everyone posted. Be safe out there, I know I will. I figured I throw in some pics of F-16's too, enjoy.

So, you be in the Land of Heated Floors and Slant Eyed, well you get the jest of it. How are thing over there in Korea? Where are you stationed? My last asignment was up on the Z in '73. Was glad I never had to go back.
Happy Hunting & God Bless.
Thanks for your Service to this great country of our's.

The short rounds are the carbine rounds and the long ones are the M-1 rounds and like you said the BIG one's are .50 cal.

Re: 50 Cal Cont'd and today's spoils

I'm pretty sure the big ones are 20mm ball ammo that the jet fighters fire for practice. They put different color paint on the nose of the bullets and they leave a colored hole in the target and that way their hits can be differentiated and scored on a straffe target from a flight of 4 or more planes. (My old weapon range days). Monty

Howdy there! In the land of the Morning Calm!

I do believe that the TOP 3 are 20mm rounds, and as such can be loaded with an HE compound and point detonated with a precussion fuze.

Those rounds you might need to be a little careful with until you can determine if it is or is not a fuzed round. Spare fingers are hard to come by.

Thanks for the information Rev, unfortunatly I am leaving Korea and returning to the good old US (vegas baby, vegas!!). I had no plans of taking them with me one the plane, I don't think the TSA agents at the airport would appreciate unstable rounds being onboard. The pictures are word a thousand words and the merories are fine by me. Thanks for the extensive details. All of you guys are in a league of your own!!!!!
Great work and be safe out there.
