Got a permission, from a lady about to sell her house... Got to beeping, I find a fat silver ring! A big chunky, with initials HD on it...Harley Davidson? Awesome! So then the neighbor comes snooping along, up in my business, yes I have permission, blah blah blah... So then I show her my clad, trash, and ring.
Half hour later, comes back, goes on and on how she knows the previous owners from 10 years ago, the ring belonged to the son who lost it, his initials, and has the kids mom on the phone, asking for the ring back...:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:
I was torn between keeping MY ring, or give it up to this nosy troll...
Lesson learned...keep my big mouth shut!
So I parted with the ring, as it wasn't worth the fight. Fact is, in my pocket was another goody, this one I am keeping. Marked 950...

My first silver cross... Almost 7 grams, so that's good...
Also, a whopping $7.04 in clad, 17 wheats, a Rosie, Washington, and a 45 D nickel....:headbang:
Here, every lawn holds a .50 caliber bullet, this one had two....image.jpeg

Thanks for looking!:hello:

Sweet hunt!! Had to be hard turning that ring over, I think I would have taken it home with me?
My last silver ring I found was in the yard of a elderly lady, she has to be in her late 80's. I asked her if she wanted the ring and she got a smile on her face from ear to ear. Made a return trip back to that yard yesterday evening and she was wearing that same ring on your finger.
I think she really liked that ring.lol

That's too bad on the ring... at least it was silver and not gold!

Glad you were able to find some other keepers :icon_thumright:

Hi; I would have asked her to let me talk to the mother of the guy who lost it and then made arrangements for her to come pick up the ring. There is no way I would have given it to that old hag for sure. Some people have nothing better to do. Anyways, the ring was returned to it's Rightful Owner. As such I hereby VOTE for Honorable Mention for you. Way to go. PEACE:RONB

There was a long thread on this subject a few years ago.

Never show them what you have.

Lesson learned. I happily show people everything except rings and valuable stuff.

I'd just water hunt the beach. Forget houses and yards, besides you don't have to stop to pee...

You still found it, so the ring counts too! Congrats on your multiple silver finds and goodies!

Too bad she didn't at lest let you get a pic of it.

That is why i never pull out the good stuff and show anyone. If they ask and describe it first, i want some kind of confirmation of ownership. Then i will turn it over.

I've had waaaaaay too many people at the beach asking me about "jewelry" i may have found that they "lost"....if there was that much gold jewelry lost we could all retire!
....funny no one wants to claim the pop tops and trash. ;)

I would have asked for her number for the return, and it's my rule that if I return something I get to take a pic!

Excellent finds BWD

I think I'd have arranged to meet the person who claimed to own the ring. Its too easy for the nosy lady to go call a friend and have them pretend to be the boys mom, which is what I suspect happened.

Ya know what? I think I understand why she was selling the house. ;)

Congrats on that sweet permission and today's finds. :occasion14: You have me thinking about the two 50 cal. and how they got there. :dontknow: Five silvers makes for an exciting hunt.

Very nice hunt on that new permission. Lots of keepers for the vault!! That cross looks like it should have been on a heavy chain.........
Most of our properties have some kind of ammo......I even find lead rounds from handguns that have been fired in tot lots!!!!

PS: I wouldn't ask for permission from that particular neighbor.........but, I would try to work all around her house.............

Honestly, beaches wear me out, and I am a coin shooter by heart.... I would much rather find old stuff than lost stuff

Yea, I really took this one on the chin...
I feel like I punched myself in the gut....she caught me off my game. I think it was heat stroke making me silly.

Lol, you got played! :laughing7:
Good other finds though!

I like to keep a little container of exploded Zincolns with me. The noseys roll their eyes and walk away pretty quick. Sorry to here you slipped up. But, like you said, the heat can make you do strange things. In most cases, when I get permissions I ask about losses before I get started. That makes any return a whole lot easier. But hey, you still had a great day! Thank you for sharing.

Gonna go back later this morning...Going to pull out all the charm, I need to get on her lawn. Matter of principle.

Dave I spent three months hunting the east coast of floridas beaches.
It was trudging and tiring with no gold dabloons ,
I'm happier inland !! Nice finds. Hh gl
