Detector(s) used
Minelab E-Trac
Saturday morning before I left the house, I debated where to detect and thought I’d try to squeeze a little more blood out of the stone that I call my ghetto park. I’ve hunted this place over 20 times since late December. So, I put the World’s 2nd Best Detector into my car and ventured out. [That's a joke between me and the Explorer gang]. I decided to try something a little different today, and that was reducing my swing arc considerably. This would be equivalent to “choking up on the bat” in baseball I guess! Resulted in my best turf day ever, and mind you, it just wasn’t other parts of this pounded park - it was the same small areas! I was bewildered with the number of deep targets that remained in very small areas I had been over numerous times. Ended the day with 19 wheats (oldest = ’20, ’27) and 5 silvers! (’17 & ’44 mercs, ’46 & ’47 rosies, and a ’43-S war nickel). Fumunda Dave showed up too and dug some silver as well. After I had my third silver, I said to him, I’m going for five! After I dug the silver rosie, I held up 4 fingers from across the way and he gave a thumbs up. About a half hour later, Fumunda walked over as I was digging a plug and said, Whaddya got, a merc? I said, yep, but it’s only about two-thirds of a merc, and IT COUNTS! Five for the day! Re-checking the hole, I heard another target and found the rest of the merc! Had I found it 20 feet away, I would have counted that as a six-silver day! The ’43 merc came from a different park a few nights ago. Keep it cool gang. - Jim

Nice finds, not a bads days work. Just when you think there's no more juice to squeeze

That's a great job to pull those from the same area you've pounded before. It's amazing what a change in strategy can accomplish sometimes ... congratz on a great hunt ~ Jimmy

You sure put a hurtin on that merc! :tard: Nice digs. jgas

Wasn't me! That's a lawn mower job. No way is my gator digger that sharp!

Jim,

I have promoted you to a higher level of deep turf mastery!! :notworthy: With each of those silvers/wheats you dig, your knowledge/memory of those signals increases dramatically. And your persistence to never give up on an area you found silver/wheats before makes you more deadly in the turf.

Congrats on a fantastic day. That's amazing that the two pieces of merc were in the same plug. You would have thought that the two pieces would have been many feet apart after getting clipped by the lawnmower. :icon_scratch:

Holy cow Jim....you had an amazing hunt. I consider it a six silver day ....hey it was a MULTIPLE silver hole....so it counts as two silvers in my book
Nice job my friend. Keep on pluckin' 'em out with that F-75.

Captain,

Thanks for the "promotion" to Jedi Knight. :evil7: That kind of day really makes me appreciate what hunters like you and Bryce have accomplished while I've grown into the hobby. Bryce, I only wish I had found another slice of merc with a different date on it in that same hole. That would have made it a "pure" six silver day. Thanks again guys. - Jim

Awe man. Awesome finds. What mode were you hunting in when you found all your loot? All metal, De Or Je? I used my F75 the other day Turf hunting pulled out 5 wheats and a Gold wedding band. The gold wedding band gave a solid 30 on my VDI. Thought it was a nickel. Glad I dug it.

I'm routinely using DE mode in turf parks. JE is way too hot. Delta pitch for tones, as that helps differentiate modern clad coins from silver. Nice job on your gold!
