Hey folks,
I found this little quarter-sized object today in an area that has given up some Civil War relics. Don't know if this piece is that old, or what it was used for, either. I'm also not sure if it's complete, but what's here consists of a thin disc of what appears to be white metal, and it still retains one rusted iron tack. The star is what intrigues me--Texas? Mississippi?--I wish! In any event, if anyone out there could help me identify this piece, I would surely appreciate it!

I really appreciate your input, blugotti1--sorry to show my stupidity, but what does civ refer to? I'm guessing civilian but maybe not! Civil War starts with civ too!

As an antiques dealer for many years, I have seen these before ( just can't remember where:icon_scratch: ) & am quite sure they were not Civil War, Texas or Mississippi related.........
I do remember seeing a cardboard box of them ( 20-30 ) at a farm auction years ago. That may be a lead for you.

Years ago I had an old travel trunk. It had some little ornate stars very much like that nailed up and down the exterior corners. I'm trying to google some pics but haven't found the right one yet.

My vote based on what I know is that it's a TX civil war rosette. Rare, valuable, and an awesome find. I would dig out the area you found that in. It was mentioned above that someone saw a box full of these at a farm auction? I wish I could find a box full of these at a farm auction. I'd be a happy man.
