While workers at J. Birnbach Inc. were helping their boss move to another floor they unwittingly tossed three weathered wooden boxes of diamonds into the trash...
A building security guard investigated the boxes in the trash and discovered the mother lode: a cluster of expensive stones, including one worth $3.2 million.
The guard ended up returning the stones to the owner after discovering their origin (but not after police arrested him for selling a few of the diamonds he had found). :diamond-earrings:

Humm..... How can they make the charges stick if the diamonds had been thrown out with the trash ?

Duh!

The person hired to provide security for the building became the unsecured link, aka thief....
