✅ SOLVED 5” long and sharp at the ends

Appears to be bronze and the little channels at the ends are sharp. No markings. The lot I just found it on has been inhabited since 1800 but I haven’t found anything near that old, although I’ve spent only thirty minutes out there. Any thoughts on what this is are greatly appreciated! Thank you.

What it reminds me of is the sliding handle on a utility knife used to move the blade in or out of the handle. Good luck finding out what it really is!

Cabinet handle, ice box door handle. The grooved portion looks Ike you could press your thumb against when opening something.
