5 Hour hunt bags a SLQ, Buffalo & IH
Well, yesterday after working all night, i hit a place i've gone to many times in the past...but this time i set a goal...I was not leaving until i find a Indian cent !!! after the first hour or so i got a nice solid quarter hit at 6" under a small tree...digging down i saw the Eagle in flight and knew it was a Standing Liberty Quarter, my third one i have found... turning it over i saw how worn it was, still a great coin in any condition...dug a couple of wheat's and then i got a real iffy signal. real scratchy...VDI was saying penny, but i could not lock on the target. at 5" down i got a 1919 wheat...rescanning the hole i was getting the iffy signal still and scooping out some dirt with my hand i got the Buffalo nickle, rescanned the hole again and got nothing, then i went over the dirt i had dug out and got a penny hit. 1909 wheat. next two hours i dug alot of clad, bullets, the Wild Willie garter clip, spoon. etc. working near a chain link fence i dug the JFK token. thought i had a Large cent at first. gotta research that one...I was still looking for that Indian cent, and near a good size tree, i dug a memorial cent a 2" deep...a foot or so over, i got another penny signal and it was around 3" deep. thought it was gonna be another Memorial cent....but nope......it was a 1899 Indian cent. after that i called it a day...
