My favorite teller picked up a few old bills for me today. One is a series 1934A -- 5 dollar silver certificate with a gold seal instead of blue. ??? The seal is only noticable if you make a photo copy of the bill. Looks like a yellow round smudge with the naked eye. ??? Sorry, no pic's Just wondered if anyone has ever seen one like it.
Thanks for any help.

I've seen pictures. I think you could find more about it at the coin community forum. I'm not sure how to link to it, but if you type those words in your search bar, it might work.

That is a nice find. I'm working on the $2.00 bill series, and it's a blast.

OK boy's and girls. Evidently what I have here is a North Africa emergency $5 Dollar Bill which was issued to our military during WWII. I'm not quite sure what the value is yet but thats fine because I think I'll be keeping it for awhile.

Just thought you'd like to know. HH poppy.

North African Notes tend to be worth a significant premium over regular silver certs.

I don't know what this note would be worth, but I would be shocked if you found out it was worth less than $50.

These were produced for distribution during WW II, around the Med. Sea and No. Africa. Quantity printed: 16.71M; in VF 20 condition: 90$; in Unc.-63: $375. If a 'star' bill, the value could go to $2,500 in Unc.-63.
Great find.
