Just wondering how consistent the placement of certain stars/feathers/letters are when it comes to printing bills ? any way case in point i noticed on the 5 dollar bill the star over Lincoln's right shoulder is "touching" his coat, but on a other bill the star is not touching his coat. Is that just the norm for paper currency or is it a error ? thanks for any info.

Due to the multistage process used to print notes, some small variations are expected from different print runs. Small design changes, when made, are implemented at the beginning of a new series of notes. The likelihood of it being an error is low, but without clear, focused images to compare to standards, it is impossible to render an opinion.

Time for more coffee.
