Ok so I had an exterior door to reframe and install today. Got done early and took off 30 minutes away and drove around looking for a good spot. The first one didn’t pan out due to trash and weeds, so I drove around and found one with a huge back yard. A full acre. Talked to the man that owns it and he said sure Go ahead, just make sure I can’t see where You’ve been. No problem & off I went!!
First signal was a copper Penny. The very next signal was a Silver Roosevelt!!! Yes!!!
Few more Copper Pennie’s, and up next to a bush I got a deep signal. 93-94. 8” down through a bunch of roots I saw that beautiful Silver Eagle on the Walking Liberty Half!!! Awesome!!! Several more copper Pennie’s and a few Wheats and I got that token. Couple more Wheats and I got My first Silver Washington!!! About 12’ from it I got another copper Penny, and pretty close to it another Silver Washington . That was a lot of swinging and I didn’t highlight everything I dug, but I got a little wore on this hunt! Silver #24fty!!

Not every Day I get a 4Silver Day, but I’m so Thankful for it!!! Made My month!!! Thanks for Looking and Happy Hunting!!!!

Very nice!

If you don't mind me asking -- what is your approach to asking a random person permission like that? I have a couple of places I would really like to hunt but don't know quite how to approach the owners. (I mean, saying "Hey, can I dig around in your yard" doesn't seem very inviting, but that's how I imagine them hearing it....)

I don't know RJ's approach but mine is simple, you just knock and ask! But avoid the word dig; I say something like "Hi, sorry to bother you but I like to metal detect and was wondering if you'd let me try it out in your yard." it's awkward at first but once you've asked and get permission a few dozen times, it's a piece of cake. Be sure you fill in your holes and make it look like you weren't even there! Good luck!

There ya go Digger! Great day

I'm more impressed with how many permissions you get than anything else! I average about one yes for every 20 no's. (and about five emphatic, i.e. nasty, no's).
Record your approach and you'll have youtube Gold!
