Hi, new here!

I really enjoy reading what other people find, so far I'm not as lucky.

I have a cheap metal detector, took it out on the beach last week and found absolutely nothing. The best part was meeting a couple of nice children who came up and talked to me.

My husband, son and I went to the beach again today. Hubby and I were going to see if we could find anything and ds wanted to just sit in the car and watch the ocean. For some reason, we did really well today. Ds heard the detector beeping and immediately jumped out to help me dig. First we found a quarter, then two dimes, then two pennies, along with pulltabs and bottlecaps and paperclips. Then the rain came, and we had to come home. Ds said he wants to go back tomorrow.

So at this point, I have 47 cents and a son who will help me dig. So far, so good.

Sounds like fun. What detector are you using?

Good for you on your finds, crawl walk run with the hobby and enjoy. You will look at scenery totally different. Old houses, low tide etc etc...

Yes it's good family fun. Hope you find even more next time :)

hey anitanita i use a really cheap radio shack detector that one of my daughters teenage friends gave me lol... it has worked great for me and my wife. we love getting out and hunting and we have found many amazing things. So dont give up hope. keep at it you guys will run into something...we always do.

The nice thing with the cheap detectors is that it'll pay for itself pretty quickly. After a couple months with my Garrett Ace 150 (Retail price $152) I've found about $20 in change, a $20 bill and two $1 bills and a little gold (the bills because I was looking down). It'll pay for itself in under a year and that's if I don't get lucky and find more gold. : )
