What country did you find it in? I would have to say from the case length it is 7.92×57mm Mauser. Military with the crimped primer. I can post the pics over at castboolits forum and have it ided for sure if you would like.

Is very intersting because I find it in Romania (Europe) and in 49 WWII was end for years! Why I found this cartridge case in the area with WWII objects! And yes i would like to ID it! Thx for help!

Generally speaking.. a military force occupies an area long after engagement has ended.

Romania was part of the Axis forces in WWII so they would have had tons of Mauser rifles. Just finally got a chance to post the pics over at castboolits soon as they get back to me I will let you know.

I dunno if you have access to a micrometer but the full length should be 2.240", the neck diameter (where the bullet should be) .3507", rim very back ring .473" rim dia, or if you can get access to a 8mm cartridge put the side by side.
