ring3.jpgring2.jpgring1.jpgring.jpgAztec Cult Ring found in Los Angles park 50 years ago. Top of ring image is the Aztec God Tlalteuctli/Quetzalcoatl and sides have two helmeted soldiers. Believe this was a cult of the Aztec's that believed Cortes was the returning God Quetzalcoatl. Ring looks as if it was casted in sand. Top and side images look as if it is gold, but when tested, shown it was not gold, but has not tarnished over the years. This might be the early native metal mixture called "Tumbaga". Any suggestions.

Pretty cool, and could be something created by modern day Mexicans, as they have an affinity for the Aztec culture. Many of them believe they are straight descendants of the Aztecs, and they could be, so it's not unusual for them to use Aztec motifs in artwork, and that ring does look like one of a kind, but it could be something sold in Mexican markets for the tourist trade. Still a cool find, I think.
