DAY 1
Back to the scout camp for this week. I missed last week because we were at the beach. Since I have covered all of the campsites and most of the other activity areas of camp I keep expecting to go and only have a fair day, but I keep swingin outside the campsite areas and finding spots that must have been heavily used in the past and coming home with a nice batch of stuff.

This trip I spent 6.5 hours swingin the CZ21 around an aquatics area, doing a quick check of a campsite nearby and extending the campsite search. The aquatics area and the campsite where pretty bare except for a few losses from last summer (I did this site in 2021). The extended area outside the site was very good. I managed to find 160 coins with a face value of $12.56, 53 camp tent pegs, 4 neckerchief slides, 2 pocket knives (one still good), a swim tag, a crucifix, a wheatie, a stainless spoon, a cats eye marble (eyeballed in the hole), some bullets, sinkers, a rope tensioner, a couple of aluminum cans, tabs and melted aluminum from the campfires.

The swim tag is from the Shaler township in the Pittsburg metropolitan area. This one is from 1979. The camp opened in 1980 so it is very likely that this one was lost that first year. I have found seven other swim tags from various Pittsburg townships, dated between 1982 and 1996 so this is the oldest so far. The crucifix is plated copper and has the word JERUSALEM on the back, probably a souvenir. The wheatie is badly eaten by the acid soil, but you can just make out 1940.

3 of the slides were in the campsite I did a quick check of and they were just under the leaves so probably lost last year. The other one was down in the ground away from the site and was lost years ago. Overall a good day at the camp.

DAY 2
Got time for a hunt at the school. Still gridding and trying to cleanup as much as possible. Not my best hunt here, but I did get one goodie and some gas money so all is good.

In 4.0 hours with the old reliable CZ21 I managed to find 26 coins with a face value of $1.58, a Rival dog food tag, a civil war .58 caliber minie ball, a cheapie red cloud pendant, a digital wrist watch frame, a small pocket watch case, tabs, can slaw and the usual assortment of junk.

This is the second Rival dog food tag I have found. I can’t read the first name, but the last name of the owner is COUTER. I believe they are from the late 50s or early 60s. Not a great find, but interesting anyway.

DAY 3
I got a chance between out of town family visitors to go to the park closest to my house. I only had 4 hours to swing the CZ21. Most of the park has been well covered over the years. You get an occasional oldie, but most of the finds are newer coins and jewelry. On the last trip I found a nice merc dime, but this trip was not as good. I did manage to find 77 coins with a face value of $5.54, a tiny car, a key, a fishing lure, a few tabs and some can slaw.

Good coin total and value to add to my end of the year total. My year ends at the end of April so not much time left to rake in the goodies. And most of that time guests will be present so I might get in one more hunt.

No luck in the coin stars or parking lots. I did find 6 pennies in different stores on the floor. I also found 35 cents in a coin return at the grocery store self checkout one day and 17 cents another day in a different coin return.

Thanks for looking, stay safe, good luck and keep swingin.

Thanks For the correction of my time frame. You are helpful as always.

Boy Scouts sure seemed to excel at losing their neckerkchief slides! I wonder if that translated into a merit badge?
Nice bunch of finds!

Yes, it is amazing how much stuff the scouts have lost over the past 40 years at this camp. LOST NECKERCHIEF SLIDE Merit badge might not work out. It would only have 1 requirement to complete the badge and it would be too easy to get. :tongue3::laughing7:

Thanks to all for the comments, stay safe, good luck and keep swingin.

From what I read the Brass Rival Tags I found were from the 1930's - 40's era.
Your looks like it's made of Aluminum - maybe a later version - could be 1950's 60's ?
I remember when I researched them there wasn't much info. available.

Mine is definitely aluminum so you are probably right. If my info is right aluminum was used more commonly after the war. Thanks again E-Trac, stay safe, good luck and keep swingin.

Nice finds thanks for posting :)
