Hi All
Went hunting for a few hours with Neil down at the U of O Found 4 Mercs 25s 35s 42s 45s and 8 wheats and a silver ring which I think is a cool find Thx for looking HH RonC
I have a similar ring, and it may be hand fashioned from a coin. Apparently things were kinda boring in the Phillipines in WWII. Very nice find and piece of history.
Mine isn't marked either Ron. And the version I have is pretty small like a kid's ring or a very petite woman's ring. Mine was found about 4 inches deep in a church yard near Omaha NE using a DFX.
Nice coins Ron, but the find of the day is definitely the ring. I think everyone that commented about the possibility of a homemade ring during overseas service is probably dead on. My grandpa was in Germany during WWII and my mom has countless items that he made to send home to my grandma. He was always a tinkerer and he made things out of plexiglass from crashed aircraft, toothbrushes, wire, you name it. Even a plexiglass heart with a small chunk of shrapnel imbedded in it...not sure if the shrapnel came from him being wounded or not.
Awesome, personal piece of this great country's history.
