Read an article the other day from the 40's about a hotel, built in 1835, burned down about a hundred years ago. Did the home work and here it goes. After getting permission and a little scout work, finding the debris field was easy to find.:laughing7:Starting out gridding about the size of a football field. The coins are amazing when they come out of the ground .That green colour you never forget!! The large cents were 1818, 1822, 2 others 2 crusty to tell, 1858 flying eagle!! Then we get the smallest musket balls I’ve seen in a long time and some really neat buttons. The holed coin I can see II about 11oclock, not sure, kinda leaning towards colonial copper. There’s defiantly a bust on it, but it’s pretty much crusty. The other piece is brass I wish was a small copper Celt but I’m positive it’s not. Picked some nice glass and a bell too, clam shell for size. Any help on the holed copper[totaly smooth on back]or the other copper in that pic would be helpful = ED

Very nice finds! Always great to find a Large Cent..........

Great hunt... and great research as well. Congratulations. A close up of the coin in question might help. And how about a close up of those large cents as well for us copperfiles..:laughing7: A holed copper with a visible bust and no reverse detail is making me think William III but that wouldn't make much sense with the age of the site..:dontknow:. although who knows what was there before the hotel.
