My son (Mach II) and I got out during the Tnet outage to a new site..... we were hoping for a colonial site, but it was not to be...
Nonetheless we did dig some nice items, its just that they are not as old as we like them to be....
He pulled a pair of Indians, a 1901 and 1905. My coins were a 1862 and 1880 Indians, an 1843 Large cent, and an 1893 V nickel (a first for me). That gives the two of us 19 large coppers and 17 indians for the year between the two of us. We started the year with a goal of 20 large coppers so we are almost there!
Some of the other interesting goodies are a cool little cross, a CW era eagle cuff button, and an intact but complete crotal bell. I've never seen one that small.
There is hope on this property for colonial items, though... The owner says it has been documented that an early settler's family was somewhere on the farm.... he does not know where, though. Unfortunately for the settlers the reason the story was documented is that they were massacred by Indians...
