Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
I went to a local beach last night from 1am til 5am. It was high tide and low tide wasn't until 4am so I worked the dry to high tide wet lines. Thing is, I was basically wasting time doing it until the tide went down so I could hunt a section at the east end that was directly in front of a high dollar beach front hotel where they put out beach chairs etc. There is a post on a fence just before you go in telling people not to remove shells, mess with animals etc and I figured it would deter most MD'ers and I was right.

All in all I managed to get 39 quarters, 30 dimes, 20 nickels, an earring, a gold "g" necklace trinket that was about 2 ft deep in wet mucky sand. In fact, EVERY target was DEEP... And finally what I rung up as gold at first 12.15, turned into a 13.15.. I pulled it out and it was a ring. A HUGE RING.. I cleaned it up and it wasn't a ring ( so I thought) It looked like a bolt :BangHead:... thing is it didn't have any ID thread. I got it home and looked it up .. it was a sterling silver mens wedding band. Retails 185.00.. (cheapskate) But still a catch.
I kept getting hit after hit after hit and they were all 12+ with the ctx.. I was already exhausted from digging such deep targets in heavy clumpy wet sand and was somewhat worried about getting rolled up assuming I was doing something wrong so I left. I'll go back on Sunday night and slow down... I KNOW there's a goodie at my new honey pot spot. Screenshot_2015-09-02-09-14-36.PNG Screenshot_2015-09-01-22-56-37.PNG

Was there erosion going on ? Or were they all recent loss-type-stuff ?

Neither. They were just DEEP.

Neat ring! Congratulations. Are there any hallmarks on the inside?

No. That's why at first I thought it was just a bolt

Sounds like a great hunt! Congratz!

You had a great hunt,Jeep; congrats on the gold "g" necklace trinket...would love to see a pic of it,

That ring is unique; I'd love to find one like it....maybe someday

Lorraine

if silver - you did ok - I have one identical and its nickel

20150901_085413.jpg here's the "g". Only impressive thing about it is how deep it was and the ctx still picked it up clearly. .

That's a cool looking ring...that should read in the high silver range on your 3030.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out how a silver ring that size could read 12-15. Even a gold ring that size would be in the 12-20's at least. I found a wrench made into a ring a little while ago. It's always fun to find odd-ball stuff like that.

When it comes to most things other than clad I don't, rather...I hardly try to understand the ctx's logic with number ID's. If it's double blipping and it's in my tones range I dig it regardless of the variety of numbers it might give. Esp over 12 inches down.

I bagged it nulling on buffaloes. Deep. 3 times. Why do some class rings show up as a penny who knows. It's a beast of a machine... Just dig it all. Hhgl-Joe

Very nice finds! congrats
