There was a major thunderstorm last night here on Cape Cod. My family lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, and we never get thunderstorms there. Since my wife and I are originally from Michigan, we miss them and were very happy to experience this big storm last night.
Anyways, I figured I'd hit the beach real early this morning to get a few hours in before I had to bring Dunkin Donuts back home for the kids, and some for my wife (gotta keep them happy so I can keep sneaking out to detect).
I tried getting into the knee to waist deep surf this morning, but got HAMMERED by the waves so hard that I had to give that up and just hunt the wet sand down to the water washing up on the sand.
Total take for the three hours this morning was 61 coins: 12 Quarters, 16 Dimes, 11 Nickels, and 22 Pennies. I also got a broken bracelet in the dry sand up in the volleyball area that's stamped 925, so at least a tiny bit of silver came from the hunt. 1 unidentifiable clip-on earring, 1 Milk Bone dog tag, and two keys that were encrusted together rounded out the finds that didn't get dumped in the trash bin on the way off the beach.
Earlier this week I was out three seperate times for an hour or so each, and in total over these three days picked up a silver ring, 9 Quarters, 11 dimes, 2 Nickels, and 20 pennies.
Still no gold but I've got through to next Saturday to do a lot more detecting, so I'm keeping a positive attitude that I'll find at least one gold item at the beaches while here.
Here is the haul from this morning:
