4" Cast Bronze

Today we bought a 4" cast bronze figurine of a mother and child. It does have makers marks, but we can't find them any where online. Anyone have any idea whose work this is?

This is just a guess but that could be something to do with the book, "The Scarlet Letter". The script A is a symbol from the novel.

Interesting, just last night on antiques roadshow, another mother and baby bronze statue was featured. Artist was a woman in New York, early 1900s, A. Ebberly (something like that)
