4.67" Of Rain = Nice Finds

Man oh man, did it rain here like pouring pee out of a boot. My neighbors yard was a lake and his house was an island. I wish I would have gotten a picture. He was completely surrounded by water. I knew it had to wash some things out. I didn't have a lot of time since I had to work this evening so I figured I would hit my favorite Ft Ancient spot for a couple of hours and it paid off. Dr Dave has seen this spot so he knows how much is exposed here and it was just unreal today. I wish I had had more time.

I can only hunt the back side of this site since it sets on another guys property. They guy doing the dig won't let me in his spot anymore to surface hunt beceause he got wind of what all I was finding, so I talked to the guy that owned the property right behind him and I'm hunting the piles of dirt on his side and they are just as loaded as the other side.

I'll post a couple of pictures of the dirt I was looking in so you can see what all I have to look through to find the pieces I find and you can see why I don't get in situs of every find. Sometimes you don't know what something is until you pull it from the ground.

The first two are the site pics.
#3 is a Shell Tube Bead
#4 and #5 are Bone Beads
#6 is a Deer Antler Point
#7 is another Bone Bead. A very nice small one with very highly polished ends.
#8 is a Pottery Handle
#9 is the entire days finds
#10, #11, and #12 are close ups of the best finds

Re: 4.67" Of Rain = Nice Finds

Ok you guys are digging the berm right? It looks freshly dug. I like it. Nice finds.

Re: 4.67" Of Rain = Nice Finds

I'm not digging there at all as of yet. The man that owns the main site has been digging it for a few years now. I have permission to dig right behind him though and as soon as the field hunting is done we are going to start digging and see what we can come up with.

Re: 4.67" Of Rain = Nice Finds

awsome finds, but, I think you might've missed a point :icon_scratch: :dontknow:
Tell me if I'm wrong, I'm new to point hunting.

hey steve,
still curious, is that a midden or did a farmer or somebody make that nice pile?

Re: 4.67" Of Rain = Nice Finds

It is a midden, but the pile was put there by the man that is excavating there. He is digging through a very large midden area.
