Hello TNeters. Been a while for me posting anything of significance. Not that I havent found cool things this summer rather my family and I have been busy a lot. We bought a house and its a never ending battle. I have found 4 silvers out of the front yard so thats a plus. :icon_thumleft:

Anyways I got out into the woods after the kids were done with trick or treating. I only had about an hour of daylight left so I wandered near where I found two trade axes 2 years ago. I got a real nice big high tone. Thought to my self.. "Axe head?" It was only about 2 inches down. One good pry with my shovel and it was out! I was literally 30 feet from where I found my other ones! 30 minutes was all I needed today :laughing7:

Above pic is both of my complete hatchets. The last one I cleaned by soaking in vinegar, however it became very pitted and I dont want that to happen with this one. Any advice on cleaning this one is appreciated. So far I only brushed it off with a tooth brush.

Last week I also found my first tootsie toy. Very happy to have this one. So far ive only ever found bits and pieces of them.

Hope to be posting again soon and more often but well see as time and weather permit. Good luck to everyone and happy hunting as always.

Here is an update. I noticed it had a mark stamped on the side. Looks like a Jesuit cross. Here is a pic. I dampened the area to give a little detail.

Awesome!! Your hunt sounds a lot like some of mine with the sun about to set, dinner cooking and the kids almost ready for bed. Nothing that old in our backyard though! I would hit that whole area both directions, it mustve been a site of some significance.
Id use a plastic small bristle brush with hot soapy water soak on the stamp area of that axe, try to get any dirt out That car is way cool.

That seems to be the trend lately with little time to detect. I go every chance I can get. Since its cooling off its nice to get back in the woods. Having this be the third one and finding some really old musket balls in the area I will be digging everything. I think ill give the soapy water and brush a try on the opposite side. Its stamped on both sides but one side is better than the other.

Very cool! Can't imagine there are too many fur trade era axe heads hanging around in the Washington Territory out here. Fun find!

Excellent find I would love to find one of those!

Thanks xcopperstax! Good things come to those who wait. Im fortunate to have a very large park on a river and that has remained mostly unchanged being so close to the city of Milwaukee. Heres hoping your coil can find one

Thanks Washingtonian. You never know. Native americans had extensive trade routes. Hopefully there is at least one out there waiting just for you. Good luck out there silver slayer. :icon_thumright:

That square hafting area might indicate a German type!

Good eye small foot. I do believe it has had multiple shafts in its life though. The very back side of it has clearly been hammered at one time or another.
