Hotter than BLAZES today. had to cut a friends lawn while he was in NY today. But lucky me. I told him, if I mow. I get to hunt. So, I did. And for an hours hunt. I was popping up the silver. Can't wait to get back there!
Here is a pic of todays best items. For more pics, and the whole scoop. I, as always. Blogged it. You can see everything here http://idighistory.co.nr/
There were some other neat finds as well. And much better pictures.
Still rushing from todays short hunt. Man, its just awesome to dig silver! I love my minelab!

Great fins Oregon! Ohio says hey to your nice website too. Great info and coin cleaning hints.

Why clean (other than to get dirt off) coins that you are just going to cash in?

Thanks. Hows the hunting in Ohio? Good Im guessing, probably much more older stuff there than here.
As for cleaning coins.
Someone asked on facebook how to clean silver. So, it was more of a response. I don't clean key date coins. Or coins that are pre 1900's. Or coins in a good grade. I typically just clean the " junk" silver as its so stupidly called. Kinda of just an overall lesson how to clean silver with out using chemicals or something that will ruin the coin. The coins I dug yesterday, sadly were in poor shape. They had scratches all over them. But, always a thrill to find em.

That's awesome man! Super nice finds! I wish I could have been there to see you dig up those Merc dimes! I've been detecting for about 18 years ~ and I still get all excited when I dig up a Merc dime! WOOHOO!!!!!

Yup, any silver is great. My buddy cleans all his coins before taking them to coinstar sorter.

Pull tabs were created here in Dayton-so guess what we find the most of.

Yeah, I could hardly sleep last night because of them mercs!! Thats how buzzin I was. Finding silver is a a serious rush noooooo doubt. Like we said. Finding gold. Eh, its cool. But it doesnt get me buzzin as hard as silver. Plus the history on those coins is just crazy. Them being in the exact same spot. They had to have been dropped together. And most likely dropped during WWII. It makes all the stuff you read, and see on TV about that war for instance. Real to me. I dig history dude. ha.

Congrats silver is a rush from the first one till the last. HH RonC

Hey thanks everyone for your responses. Really helps a newbie like me feel like part of the Metal Detecting community.
Cheers and best of luck hunting
