3 Thimbles today, Some Norwegian Sterling, and some buttons & stuff from past hunts
I am still hunting the site that I was having a lot of good luck at, but the finds have slowed WAY down.
I haven't been going everyday like I was, but I haven't given up on it just yet.
Havent had anything worthy of a post lately, so I thought I would include a few past finds from this site that I didn't bother posting.
The site has been slow, but I some days I get a button, some brass square nails, melted lead, and the occasional round ball.
Today I ended up with 3 thimbles, and last hunt I got a thimble. I didn't bother picturing the modern aluminum one.
Todays Finds.
The hallmark. TH Marthinsen Sterling Norway Gold washed & enameled. I doubt its very old, but still a neat find.
Several buttons from previous hunts at this site. A very tiny flat button marked Superfin Paris. An unmarked Silver bell/button, "Any ideas about the age of this one". And a large pre 1730 French colonial marines button with bent shank.
This piece of brass might be a bayonet scabbard throat. The 1909 wheatie is for scale, and yes it did come from this site.
Next time I go back I'm going to have to try probing or sifting.
