3 star MM on Colonial Buckle ? Anyone familiar...

Hey there Herbie,I'm a guessing this is your friend.............buckle - Today's Digs - Just Go Detecting - Metal Detector Community :laughing7:
I've went through all mine & see none with *** on them.I've got quite a few now but that's not saying much there were alot made of course.I can help you date it better if the one your talking about is the above link??? If it is it would date more 1750-1790 with that type chape & tongue piece.I've got none with the little bar across the fork of the tongue like his,but most of mine are earlier.Anyway you can see what I'm saying here....................

Thanks Pete, that's the one...
I thought the large rectangulars were earlier than the sturdy oval types that I usually find,
Appreciate the dating info :icon_thumright:
I found a nice collection of Georgian buckles with lots of info on this site
Your Search Results | Search the Collections | Victoria and Albert Museum
Haven't found anything relating to the star markings,
but now I have two more items on my wishlist :laughing7:

Ha! you got me on the UKFD site...
just browsed 36 pages of buckles and learned the type I most commonly find
are 1680-1720 'Two Piece Sub Rectangulars',
Wish there was a USFD :dontknow:
