I was off today so I decided to hit a local Forest Preserve and then a park. Funny thing is, this park is down the street from another detectorist here on t-net. My first find of the day (within 5 minutes of turning my detector on) was the 1899 Barber Quarter that I found in the trash infested woods. I thought to myself this is going to be a good day. My second hit was the '46 Roosie, and then after about 2 hours of not digging anything, I got a strange bouncing signal on the E-trac 12-24; 09-09; 12-02. I thought for sure it's going to be a pull tab, but after not digging anything for so long I said what the hey. Out popped the gold bracelet(which I have to clean a little better). After that find, I went into my car and was gonna go home. But then I thought to myself I have a couple of more hours of sunlight, so that's when I went to the park that's down the street from the other detectorist, we all know him as treasurefiend. I did not expect to find anything but some clad. Boy am I happy I went there. my first few signals were some clad, and then he silver Washington. I figured it was already worth coming out here. Then I went to the corner of the park where it looked there was some structure in the past and I got a solid 12-06 signal that was pretty deep @ 9 inches. I figure it can't be a pulltab that deep. Man am I glad I dug! Out popped this beautiful 18k gold cross with 16-4-1913 engraved on the back of it. I just about soiled my drawers, thinking treasurefiend would have definately picked this up by now. (Thanks for leaving this for me champ) This is by far my best find to date, and will be very hard to beat. I also picked up two wheaties at this park(who cares) I finally found me GOLD! Thanks for looking and HH! -Jonski
