Sounds like a crappy situation.

At least they were thinking out of the box. lol

Actually a guy on a Canadian treasure forum posts his adventures in the sewer system.
Does quite well in gold jewelry finds. NO S**T!!!!

That's probably where they got the idea from, lol.

I have two friends that frequent storm drains.. Mostly coins found but I know of one who put a sifter at the end and has captured a few golds... Baltimore..

I pretty much grew up in rural Texas. What's a sewer system?

Well that definitely puts a lid on it!:laughing7:

They do this in South Africa too, it's been on the news, a few guys have died trying to find gold in the sewers

hope they wiped before the cuffs where on

I do this (sifting storm sewers, not sewage sewers, and certain creeks with shallow bedrock) and have found great stuff. 10 silvers plus gobs of other stuff in 1 day was my best haul. It's an interesting approach to treasure hunting if you aren't claustrophobic and don't mind crouching for hours.

Damn, I told them it was a bad idea.... :BangHead:

This was very common in New York City in the old days. Outhouses were commonly hit areas too!

And I thought we were dedicated treasure hunters! Lol

Don't confuse a city sewer systems with storm water systems. One catches rain water from the roads via storm grates-etc, and discharges straight out somewhere (usually a river).
the other is a closed system that delivers the goo from households to treatment plants (hopefully) before discharging in the same river.

In the movies, those are always storm water systems that the detectives/ aliens/bad guys/ alligators are always walking in.
But NYC detecting? ALL of those systems are full of rats.
