Three Luzerne County businesses have received cease-and-desist letters from Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro as his office investigates price gouging during the coronavirus pandemic, a spokesman for the office said Monday.
Mark Shade, spokesman for the attorney general’s office would not identify the businesses that received the letters.
Shade provided two examples of price gouging in the area. One Wilkes-Barre Twp. store was selling Halyard purple nitrile exam gloves for $19.98 when the average retail price is $14. A store in Wilkes-Barre was selling Hala chicken breast for $1.67 per pound when the regular price is $.96 per pound
Statewide, the AG’s office has received 3,593 complaints statewide and has issued 191 cease-and-desist letters, according to Shade.
