3 Hours + Keepers = Yay!

I got out Sunday morning for a bit with a friend of mine. Our goal was to search for Civil War relics at the downhill slope of a possible fortification area. The spot is public and has been hunted over the years. Also, there is significant EMI interference in the area. The best sensitivity I could manage on the CTX in Auto+3 was 22. Nevertheless, I did manage to find some 19th Century keeper coins and a few relics. I pulled a 1936-D Mercury dime, a 1921 Buffalo, and a handful of wheat cents. I also nabbed a dropped .58 caliber Minie with an obvious casting line on it. I suspect it was tossed as a defective bullet instead of dropped. I found a lead seal with the Roman numeral "III" on it -- not sure on the date or period. I dug up a pocket knife, wooden with brass tips and 2 blades. Unfortunately, I can't find a maker's mark on it. Finally, I got my first Union eagle button with the gilt still on it. Not a bad hunt for 3 hours. The CTX continues to be a magical workhorse for finding the stuff other detectors missed.

Oh, I was hunting in Combine, full open screen due to the thickness of the iron. The constant iron grunt made me feel like I was living in a beehive...
