I went out this afternoon for about 2 hours, to the same 1700's house property that I've been hittin' regularly lately, and managed to find this 1843 dime.
It's now my oldest U.S. silver coin. (previous was 1875). Only a few years from a Capped bust! Damn! lol.
I was just about to wrap it up for the day, when I got this hit. Then I was definately done! I went right to the car happy as could be!
It was about 8 inches deep. This is EXACTLY how it came out of the ground. The back is shot though. You can just barely make out the "one dime".
It was only 3 degrees out here today, but there was no snow on the ground where I was hunting. The ground was pretty frozen, but once I broke through the top 2-3 inches, it was easy diggin'.
I figured it REALLY might be my last chance for a while, since it's not supposed to go above 20 for at least another week, and more snow's coming.
Anyway, thanks for looking. H.H.
