3 Cent Silver, Two Indians & a Merc!
Today I went back to that hill I hunted last time out. The last time I hunted with the stock Pro coil on my E-trac. This time I put the 10x12 sef butterfly coil on to see what else I could find. My first good find was a real surprise. However I made a mistake I've made before. I didn't think it was a coin and rubbed it. Ugghhhh! It was a U.S. silver 3-cent coin. The small size of this coin fooled me. I could only make the last number of the date, which is a "2". I believe it is an 1852 coin. My next good find was an Indian Head penny that was so encrusted I couldn't get a date. The crust was like cement and wouldn't wash off. I cleaned it with electrolysis and then saw it was an 1882. You can see the "before & after" in the video below. The little electro tank I use was inspired by buckeyedigger (on youtube), who posted a great video on the subject. The next good find was an 1883 Indian Head cent. Man, I love finding Indians! Then I got lucky and found another silver coin - a 1943D Mercury dime. Dan
