Greg (greatdeals on coinhunting.net) called me up this morning around 11:15... sadly, he woke me up at this time, haha. He said he was heading out to the Madison County 4-H Fairgrounds that is in Alexandria, IN, and I said I would meet him out there.
Things started out SLOWLY with us getting memorials at 6+ inches. Yeah, we moved from there quickly. Eventually we found some decent spots. I got a 51 wheatie at about 6" in one spot. Then I wandered over to the horseshoes area and right in the middle of it all I found a 1927D Wheatie at about 9" deep. Oddly, at that debt it was still a STRONG signal that left me with almost no doubt that it would be some kind of coin. We then walked around and found some more clad, etc. I also got one state quarter to add to the contest.
We then moved to the front yard of a house that was right next to the fairgrounds that was having it's foundation dug up. We assumed it was part of the fairgrounds and started hunting it. I got the Subway car, a belt buckle, and my first ever Buffalo Nickel!! BOO YEAH! A 1936D in fairly good shape. I bet it would clean up really nicely and grade pretty high for a dug buffalo. It was about 4" or so.
I also got a token that reads 'Tested and Sealed Indiana' and it appears to have our state seal in the middle. The reverse is blank. It is badly bent and doesn't bend easily, so I'll let it be for now.
The other wheatie (1926) was from another hunt in Anderson with Greg from last week.
