Relic Hunting
Went back this afternoon to our new site that gave me my first military button yesterday. Had a great hunt until the rain came again. Found some relics and some odd pieces along with seven buttons. The first signal I dug was the cannonball! Definitely a first for me. Finding another War of 1812 Artillery button was awesome. After digging so many flat buttons (which I still like and appreciate), it was really cool to finally find a military button two days in a row! Thanks for looking.

Thanks vpnavy and MM. I need to research info on cannonballs. Seeing how we've found three War of 1812 buttons at this site, I assume the cannonball is from the same time frame. Not sure if I should clean it and how...don't no anything about cannonballs! Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you can, get an accurate weight & diameter for it and post it on the "What is it?" board. Cannonball Guy is THE artillery shell and shot guy, and he frequents that board to help ID finds.
