2nd class ring found in 9 days

Hi all. I decided to go for a hunt this morning while I waited for the owner of last week's class ring to call me. I went to a different parking place for the same old swimming hole that produced the first class ring and my second target was this beauty! I couldn't believe the luck and coincidence. I think this proves we are rewarded for good deeds done, don't you? Too much coincidence in my opinion. Btw, if you want to read the story of the returned ring, see my post titled "First Class Ring" that is also in "Today's Finds" from last week. I have called the school and talked to someone there about helping me find the owner of today's ring. I hope she can help me.

Dude that is totally awesome. I can't wait to take that trip of returning a class ring. May your journey be a good one. I lost my class ring years ago and couldn't explain how I would feel if it was returned to me. I think you will make some person very happy. Please keep us posted.

That's a nice one. Keep up the good work. I've never found a class ring... I'd love to check that one off the list.

I hope you are successful in finding the owner of this ring too!

It is a wonderful feeling. I have returned one class ring myself and the owner cried when he saw it because it had been given to him by his late father.

I've been able to return 3 class rings by contacting the manufacturers. I think Josten's only carries records for four years, but others may have records for longer. They won't give you the information directly, but you can give the name or initials and description of the ring and they will contact the original buyer and relay your contact info to them. I've contacted schools but they have never been helpful to me. Good luck!

Here's the body of the letter that was sent to me for the last ring I returned-- I was gratified!

very nice. hope you can return it. they will be probably about 59 years old now

I dug out my loupe and found "Balfour 10k" inside with the owner's initials. The ring weighs 15g with the stone. There is also the number "2" inside. Don't know what that is but Balfour is the maker.

Sent from my iPad using TreasureNet

You are a magnet for class rings.Hope you find the owner.

Great find and good luck if you try tracking the owner.
The doggie almost looks like a Ga. Bulldog, or either Mack truck symbol.
HH!

That's one impressive hunk of gold. Good luck finding the owner.

The bulldog is the mascot of the Berwick High School. They are well known in northeastern Pa for their successful football program. They have played on national tv at the high school level( a very prestigious honor ). Although it has been quite some time since the owner graduated, I am confident he can be found. Please keep your fingers crossed for me and thanks for the post.

An update. Not really sure what I should do now. I have contacted the school and they called people. I went to the library myself and looked up the guys from 1972 with initials( they only list last names and first name ) matching the ring. I found 2 with matching initials but when I called, their middle names do not match the middle initial. Thinking maybe the person went by their middle name, I went back to the library. The yearbook shows no one like that. One of the guys said he had given his ring to an old girlfriend and in a little act of spite, she threw it into the middle of a field. He can't remember where now and says she lives in Connecticut now. I told him to find the field and get permission from the owner and I would see if I can find it for him. He is one whose middle name doesn't match. Anyone have any suggestions? I'd really like to return this one too.

Honestly, and there will be other opinions, but you gave it a fair shot contacting the school, and two individuals, maybe it belongs in your display case. Just saying "maybe", and I will say this after doing as much as you have, I certainly wouldn't feel bad about it either...I mean how much are you supposed to do ?

That's a beautiful class ring ! Good deeds are repaid in more ways than you may imagine. Mine is still lost in a ditch somewhere out in the country from a boyfriend who threw it there. I wish I had mine back. Wonderful find and good thing you are doing :) hats off to you !

I lost mine back in 1980, the year of my graduation. My cousin had thrown a pool party and I am sure it was there that I lost it, so I know how it feels. I listed the ring on a site called findmyring.com, so I guess it will go in my collection unless something changes. I am a very stubborn man, so giving up just isn't something I can do easily.

If I knew which ditch mine was in, I would go find it myself. How cool would that be ? :D lol
Hope you find the owner. Good luck !
