✅ SOLVED 2inch eagle pin - any idea if its old and what it was for

I believe its a brass, it was found in late 1800s or early 1900s park, where more recently bums sleep, so may be old or may be newer.

2 inch diameter, found about 5 inches down

Air force, Army bus drivers cap..just a fancy name for a ceremonial blues greens hat. Older though, we didn't use em that size when I got out in 2015.

Oops, correcting an incorrect post I made earlier suggesting they were older/army: I'd forgotten what the deal with the brass ones of these were. If there is no trace of a silver finish I believe they were an early Air Force (late 40's-early 50's) "transitional period" hat device from before the Air Force switched to a blue uniform with silver tone devices (they had been using Army uniforms).
