24 gram signet ring

Today I found a heavy signet ring with a interesting design on the front. It is a bird and rainbow motif with the word mexic stamped inside the ring. Any ideas if the picture has a significant meaning.

I don't know if its gold. I'm getting a testing kit today. Thanks.
