I'm on a roll this year and lady luck is sitting on my shoulder. Went out again to a different part of the lake, struck out at the first place. Second place turned out to be a nice little spot, first good target was a 10 kt college class ring that read 19-20 on the Equinox.

Within 30 minutes I got it really funky reading with the numbers bouncing all over the mid to high 20s. At first, when I grabbed it, I thought I was pulling up a piece of black cloth till I realized I had a honking silver chain with two medallions attached. Turns out it is a medical alert medallion, sterling silver.

This is my second class ring in two days, Monday I'll start making phone calls to see if I can track down the owners. Third gold ring, third class ring and 23 third ring of the year hunting fresh water areas.

Got a pic of the environment Dan? Are you IN the water, if so how deep...do you have a scoop?....this is all on the beach OUT of the water?...
I’ll be doing more of what you’re doing this year for sure, gotta expand my horizons!
That’s a beauty of a class ring....

The beauty of this place is the water level rises and falls(drastically) from year to year from what I saw on google earth going back to 1995. There's an area approx 80-90' of exposed beach that has been under water on and off since the river was dammed back in the 40's. The town isn't old, maybe 50 years, if that.

The other kicker is, it's a "private park" meaning you have to be a property owner to get in ;) The POA, property owners association, has 6 parks for property owners only. This keeps every Tom, Dick and Harry from hunting the parks :icon_thumleft:

I haven't seen anyone else in the parks since I moved here back in Oct last year, swinging a detector. If they are, they are only going for the clad and silver jewelry hitting above zincs. The amount of trash is almost overwhelming, but, I like the challenge and satisfaction of pulling keepers from the crap. I will be going into the water this summer to see if I have any luck there. Here's a couple of pics where I'm hunting.

Nice finds. That’s a beautiful place to hunt. HH

Outstanding ring find, congrats! :occasion14:

Congrats! You have some nice places to hunt. :occasion14:

AWESOME! Since the water level varies, there should be good stuff at every level. Looks like you are going to keep making good finds for the foreseeable future, congratulations!

Wowza sweet necklace and rings thats alot I gotta start doing water hunts holy moly. Keep em coming my friend Tommy

Awesome finds- Congrats! Good luck with the returns!

That to me is an inland jewelry hunters dream come true. Most of the places around here have been heavily modified to include BOULDERS along the shorelines and swimming doesn’t occur in a set area...it occurs when you randomly fall out of your kayak because you’re half drunk with your buddies. There’s no “collection area” or “best spot” that I can discern. I have more work to do....
Oh yeah, BTW...my daughter just went through the background checking process and training to start as an RCA for the local P.O. so any tips you want to pass along are welcome....we’re looking for a RHD van or Jeep but they’re pretty scarce, and LLV’s are impossible to find used.

Congrats on the 23rd ring find of the year.

Congratulations. I agree with the professor. The perfect place to hunt.:icon_thumright:
