got out this weekend for some diggin, weather here in VA has finally changed for the better, on saturday got into a stretch of field that had produced dozens of flat buttons and a few coins over the past couple years and once again i was not disappointed as several buttons were recovered and I snagged this 1839 Half Dime from the spot. On Sunday I got my buddy Carl to head out with me, he works all the time and rarely gets out to dig much, we hit the woods and after a couple slow hours he calls me over to say he had just dug a large coat button, took a look at it and had no idea at first what it was, after we got back to my place i cleaned it for him and man is that sucker loaded with gilt, we then determined it was a 23rd Regiment National Guard State of New York button, believe its indian wars era, a great find and a beautiful button.
