Is the upper-left button British military of some kind?
Great looking finds creskol, they almost look like they were found in water due to their colour?
I agree, this definitely looks to be Revolutionary War related.

All came from an old mill site, Dave, and everything was so cruddy and basically worthless, so I took the liberty to tumble them to see if I could garner any detail.
Those are some great finds! That mill site is certainly producing for you!!
What kind of mill do you think it was?

I don't think this button is a Rev War button, post war possibly 1812 era; we find oddball militia buttons from the UK on a regular basis and this one fits that category
Script is possibly I V I.... Inverness Volunteer Infantry?? could be one possibility but that's just a guess, it could be anything
The mill could have produced rag paper and the buttons were simply cast away in the process
a decent find for your efforts
On a similar vein to ironhorse it could have been be a shoddy mill recycling wool from uniforms etc.
Mills & Village Histories ? Historical Commission ? Town of Norfolk
Iβve detected sites in the U.K. with lots of buttons (esp military) from where shoddy was used on the fields as fertiliser.
