Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Is the upper-left button British military of some kind?

I also saw the top left button and wondered about it. And, there at least two backmarked buttons but I can't read them. Top row 4th from left and second row 2nd from left.

Great looking finds creskol, they almost look like they were found in water due to their colour? :icon_scratch:

I agree, this definitely looks to be Revolutionary War related.

Dave

All came from an old mill site, Dave, and everything was so cruddy and basically worthless, so I took the liberty to tumble them to see if I could garner any detail.

I think they look great now creskol.
Over time with exposure to the air, the patina will darken again over time.

I'm not sure what the totals are up to now from the site. Getting any details off the buttons is really cool.
Well done on the recoveries, I am really starting to like the counterstamped coinage. A real personal addige to the history.

It would be of great value to me to have a spot with so many finds! Ya done good!

Those are some great finds! That mill site is certainly producing for you!! :icon_thumleft:

What kind of mill do you think it was?

I know it started off as a grist mill, but other than that, I am not real sure. The old fellow who told me about the said said he remembered a "bank of rollers" there when he was a kid. I don't know if grist mills used rollers for anything or if it might be textile related.

I don't think this button is a Rev War button, post war possibly 1812 era; we find oddball militia buttons from the UK on a regular basis and this one fits that category
Script is possibly I V I.... Inverness Volunteer Infantry?? could be one possibility but that's just a guess, it could be anything
The mill could have produced rag paper and the buttons were simply cast away in the process

a decent find for your efforts

Thank you ironhorse! Never thought of the rag paper possibility, but that makes sense to me!
