Brand new site for me and I only worked it for an hour tonight after work but I can't identify this....thing.... There are some letters on the back which are hand inscribed and the hole on top is not round, so it isn't machine made. Any thoughts? The history of this house says that the occupants stood on their porch and watched watched Confederate and Union troops march past during the war. Lots of potential here! FYI the 3-ringer is my first intact one (found a melted one two weeks ago) and was only 2"deep a few feet from this other thing.

Looks like the decorative escutcheon that served as a backing plate to a drop-style drawer pull.
