Depending on what's in the dirt/soil, what's on the coin or under it. Spilled liquids, acid rain, could be just about anything. I've got many coins this way.
 

I agree with qaela4. All kinds of soil conditions can dictate how a coin will look.
 

Not sure how but the back looks cool
 

I've found clad Quarters with Color after laying in the sun for awhile.
Also from moisture.
the redish reverse on yours looks sun Tanned.
to me it obviously fell tails up
