Here’s what happened.

I asked my mother if she had any coins I could look at. She gave me a few coins. One of them happened to be a wheat penny, but that aside the point. She gave me two Minnesota quarters. I looked at one of them under a large magnifier, nothing. Then I looked at the other, and I discovered there is an “extra tree.”

It’s casting a shadow, and it’s raised, so it’s a mint error. You can also see it faintly with the naked eye.

Here are four pictures, all under a magnifier. The first is the normal Minnesota quarter. The second is the double die. The third is me pointing at where the extra tree is, and the fourth is a close-up of that area.

Something I never expected to find!

I am having it looked at by a pro as soon as possible.

OK, this is embarrassing. I just looked at it under a microscope with a high light setting. No extra tree. I don’t know why it shut up like that on my magnifier.

Right when I think I have something, I don’t. That’s not fair.

If you wanna delete this post, you can. I’m not returning to it. I’m too embarrassed and too depressed.

No worries!
At least you had a bit of fun with it...
