It looks like someone took a file to it. For some reason,people are fascinated by drilling and filing coins. I stopped collecting them except the silver ones. HH, Jim
 

That's a legit double clip, all right. Or more accurately an incomplete planchet. The telltale signs are the tapering rims near the clips. A phony would show grinding or file marks in these areas...

A few characteristics make this a great find:

- Clips on large coins are uncommon

- Clips on large silver coins are even more uncommon

- Double clips on large silver coins are more uncommon still!

I'd say you have at least a $50 find there. Congrats!

You sure thats a double clip? The one over the 7 in the date looks more like a line and less like a clip (doesn't appear as rounded).
