My friend and I were detecting in a plowed field, here in the midwest, that was the site of an agricultural fair, for many years, that closed in 1910. We had hunted for approx. 2 hrs without a find and, as I was ready to leave and walking back to my van, I swept my detector in front of me and got a good signal. The signal came from a chunk of dirt so I broke open the chunk and there was this nice 1875 s 20 cent piece. I had never seen one and thought that I had found a seated liberty quarter. My friend said " turn it over" and it said "twenty cents".

Very nice find, I'm with the rest... hopefully I'll find one before I die! :D

Nice Find!
Thats the second one that I know that has been found.
A detecting buddy of mine found one in a yard about an hour before one of our club meetings.
He too thought it was a seated quarter. Thats the reason they quit making them. They looked too much like a quarter.
Nice bit of history you got there.

FANTASTIC FIND!!!

If I found a twenty-cent piece, you'd probably have to hospitalize me for a few days.

Congrats, very nice, they say an area is never completely hunted out, so keep plugging, and don't
forget to show us your new finds, it makes us all feel almost like we are finding them with you.
Continued HH, SS

Every one seems to think they are rare. I find them all the time at parks. Just kidding one fantastic find ;D ;D

That's a awesome coin. First one I have seen found by a detector. That show's you how hard they are to find.
