The government of Kuwait has reported a massive theft of U.S. weapons that were being stored in the country.
The World Tribune reported that:
The Interior Ministry said thieves broke into a warehouse and stole a huge amount of firearms and ammunition. The ministry said 20,000 U.S.-origin M-16 assault rifles and 15,000 rounds for 9mm pistols were stolen. “There were no guards during the break-in,” the ministry said on April 7. The statement said thieves broke three doors and removed the entire contents of the warehouse.
This story has been kept under wraps pretty well for the past week, this one short story from the World Tribune is the only source that i have been able to find so far. This is one of those stories that the mainstream media likes to stay far away from, not only because it makes the government look bad but also more specifically because it totally contradicts the information that they put out about government gun control.
This loss of weapons comes just as the controversy over the fast and furious gunrunning operation was almost swept under the rug. As Derrick Broze of Intellihub reported
In early 2011 a federal program involving “gun walking” became public. This program, known under the Obama administration as Operation Fast and Furious, involved the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and sting operations supposedly designed to catch Mexican cartel leaders.
The program lead to arrests of smaller criminals, but to date no cartel leaders have been arrested. Instead Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry lost his life, along with hundreds of Mexican citizens on the border. These deaths can be traced directly to weapons sold under Fast and Furious.
This past September the Justice Dept. announced that it had finished investigating itself in regards to the organizations own responsibility in the “Fast and Furious” gunrunning scandal. Yes, you heard that right, they were in charge of their own investigation.
According to mainstream media accounts an “internal watchdog” was responsible for overseeing the case. An internal watchdog is basically someone within the organization who is somehow supposed to provide an unbiased examination into what has happened.
Under such circumstances it should come as no surprise to anyone that Attorney General Eric Holder was cleared of any suspicion by whichever co worker of his happened to be in charge of the investigation.
If only the rest of us could have the luxury of placing our friends and family members as the judges and juries in all of our traffic cases, pot charges and tax audits. According to the Associated Press there are lower level government employees who are taking the blame, but even they are only being accused of “misguided strategies, errors in judgment and management failures”.
This “internal watchdog” must have overlooked the documents that CBS News obtained in December of 2011, which explicitly showed that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) discussed using the fallout from the “Fast and Furious” operations as a propaganda tool for when it was time to introduce new gun control laws. This has been proven to be one of the main strategical reasons for the ATF and the government to initiate this program, and there is proof of them both corresponding about it long before Holder admits to knowing about it.
The verdict in this case is without a doubt business as usual for the euphemistically named “Department of Justice”. However, it is also important to recognize that this involvement in gunrunning and drug dealing is one of the fundamental operations of government. These operations occur under every administration, and have been commonplace since the days of the East India Company and the Opium Wars.
To assume or believe that this is some kind of an oversight is to buy in to the nationalistic folklore that government schooling and corporate media perpetuates. The government knows exactly what they are doing and the orders always come from the top down, not the other way around as the findings in this whitewash investigation suggest. If the government or any other organization takes action that results in favorable outcomes for a few in charge, at the expense of other people, it is safe to say that these actions were not mistakes. Especially when this pattern of powerful people making convenient mistakes has been a constant trend all throughout history.
